Ellie's 22nd birthday party was held at the wonderful Coffi Co Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay on a rainswept Saturday. Cardiff Bay is no stranger to the elements as regular revellers would testify, but there is always something a little special when it is raining outside and there is big party going on oblivious to the weather outside. That is the spirit of the old Tiger Bay and the glitz and glamour the new Cardiff Bay venues have embraced that spirit so well! The Coffi Co Mermaid Quay lounge is literally on the water what with being built on a former jetty, so as the sun sets and the lights come on along all sides of Cardiff Bay, this becomes one of the prettiest places to be, as the photos below show.
The funfilled birthday night was not dampened by the rain outside. Ellies's guests had an amazing chocolate fountain and pink and chocolate doughnuts with swirly bits, and other treats to feast on as well as a DJ to play their favourite tunes. As the night drew on and the music soared along each corner of the glass-walled Coffi Co lounge, laughter and celebration flowed, and they were dancing all over the place - just like how a birthday celebration should be! Regular readers of my photoblogs know how much I love to photograph parties and the stories associated with parties, this was no exception. Beauifully happy people dancing to the edge of the night, a wonderful venue and a happy birthday girl soaking in her night to remember.
