I first met Naiya and her fiancé Dilan on a warm July afternoon for a pre-wedding informal chat, and within minutes of taking sips from our freshly brewed mocha, I knew I would love to photograph their special day.
The Grove Hotel and Golf Course in Watford, which is popular with England footballers and celebrities alike was the impressive venue. July's balmy summer sun followed us into August with the mercury rising to 34 degrees on the afternoon of the wedding. The Grove looked exquisite. My first walk around the grounds and the rooms decorated for the wedding left me with so many ideas for the post ceremony couple shots. I was truly excited.
My task for the day was to cover the bridal preparations followed by the registry wedding and then the family shots, but actually to create story of the day from that quiet intimacy of the bridal prep, the excited little bridesmaids swirling around the smiling family and friends, the iconic couple shots in their newly wedded bliss and everything up to the cutting of the cake. Between the hot sun and the cool shade, and everything like the pretty ceremony thrown in between, and just before Naiya and Dilan were being rushed off to join the rest of the party, I feel blessed to have documented their romance!
This is to thank Naiya and Dilan for letting me be part of their special day, a beautifully long afternoon filled with an orange glow and stunning moments of joy.
This is their story..
